Do I need baggage cover?

You may not need baggage cover with your travel insurance if you are already covered under your home contents insurance policy. Please check your home contents insurance policy to see if cover is in force and the limits shown in your policy wording.

Is there a limit to the number of days I can travel under an Annual Multi Trip policy?

We offer annual travel insurance policies with a single trip length limit of 31 or 60 days. This means that any one trip can last for a maximum of 31 or 62 days (depending on the duration selected). The policy gives a total of 17 days of winter sports cover over the year providing you select Level 3 or 4 under Section 16. There is no limit to the total number of trips that can be taken.

When does the policy cover start and end?

If you have an Annual Multi Trip cover Cancellation cover starts at the time of booking a trip providing it is within the period of cover as shown on your schedule and ends when you leave your home to commence the trip. If you have a Single Trip, Single Trip Plus or Backpacker cover, you are covered for the dates as shown on your policy schedule. Cancellation cover starts from the date you have purchased the insurance policy and ends when you leave your home to commence the trip.

All other sections of cover start when you leave your home to commence your trip. Cover applies for the duration of the booked trip (or earlier return to the United Kingdom) including the period of travel directly to the departure point and back home directly afterwards, not exceeding 24 hours in each case.

If your return is unavoidably delayed for an insured reason, cover will be extended free of charge for up to 30 days maximum.

What are the age limits on my policy?

We have a maximum age limit of 74 on our standard Annual Multi Trip Insurance and an age limit of 79 for Single Trips and 39 for Backpacker policies. The minimum age limit for the main policyholder is 16. Under 16's can be covered on family policies.

I have pre-existing medical conditions will you cover me?

We can cover a wide range of pre-existing medical conditions under our travel insurance product. We have a list of automatically covered pre existing medical conditions which can be covered for no additional premium. Customers with pre-existing medical conditions not listed as automatically covered should call us on 0330 660 0563 and speak directly to one of our experienced nurses who will complete a medical screening to determine the correct level of cover for your needs. When should I contact the Emergency Medical Assistance Service?

The Emergency Medical Assistance team provides emergency medical assistance to our policyholders whilst travelling aboard 24/7. You should contact them in a medical emergency, or if you need to curtail your trip.

Can I change the excess on my policy?

No. We have a range of excesses from £50 to £100 depending on the level of cover you choose. These apply to all sections apart from travel delay, personal accident, legal expenses and hospital benefit, where there is no excess.

What happens if my travel is disrupted?

Your travel insurance policy will cover flight cancellations, denied boarding and delayed or missed connections provided you have an Annual Multi trip, Single Trip Plus or Backpacker policy.. Cover is also provided for extra transport and accommodation costs.

If I have an Annual Multi Trip policy - can my children travel independently?

Yes.

Under our family policies we cover children who are under 23 and still in full time education. If your children are included on your travel policy, then they can travel independently from the main policy holder. They are covered up to the same limits as the main policy holder for all covers except cash, and personal accident. See the policy wording for full details.

What is financial failure protection cover?

There have recently been several high profile incidents where airlines and travel providers have gone bankrupt, leaving travellers stranded in foreign countries, or having to foot the bill for a holiday they never went on. Travellers on package holidays are protected in this eventuality as it is the tour operator's responsibility to provide a solution, whereas travellers who have booked their flights and accommodation separately may not be. Financial failure cover protects you against financial loss if you have booked a holiday that is not part of a package deal and the provider goes bankrupt.

What activities am I covered for and what do I need the other activity extension for?

Our Travel Insurance covers a wide range of activities as standard under level 1; however those who enjoy more adventurous holidays including more dangerous activities will need to add our extended activity cover to their policy. Click here to see which activities are included as standard and which require extra cover.

If you are participating in an activity that is not listed, you must contact us to ensure that you have full cover. Cover will not be in place until we have confirmed acceptance and any additional premium paid.

Will you cover my business trip?

You are covered for business travel insurance as standard under our Single trip and Backpacker policies. Cover can be included under the Annual Multi trip cover for an additional premium. Depending on the level of cover chosen, cover is also provided for the replacement of any business samples and documents that you take with you, any portable business equipment such as a laptop or projector, any conference fees that you lose and cannot recover, and the cost of reasonable additional travel and accommodation costs for transporting a close business associate from the UK to any pre-arranged meetings that you miss if you fall ill whilst travelling.
